Frequently asked questions
How accurate is IP geolocation?
Country is usually reliable. City level is approximate and often points to the ISP hub nearest to you, so it can be off by tens of kilometres, especially on mobile networks.
Why does the location differ from where I am?
VPNs, mobile carriers, corporate proxies and satellite providers route traffic through other regions, and the lookup can only see the address the internet sees.
Is my IP address stored?
The lookup is forwarded to a geolocation service to produce the result. This site does not keep a history of the addresses you search.
